Two choristers from King's College Choir have won
academic scholarships to Eton. Out of 105 candidates, Joseph Boorman
and Joe Etheridge (both aged 13) came in the top 12.
Joseph and
Joe are currently studying at King's College School with the other
choristers in the Choir. Earlier this year both boys also won Music
Scholarships to Eton.
The Headmaster of King's College School, Nick Robinson, said, "I'm
delighted that both boys have done so well in the face of such strong
competition. Their success is outstanding and it is a pleasure to see
how a chorister education can bring out the very best in a pupil. They
deserve to be very proud of their achievements.”
Amongst the
scholarship awarded to senior schools this year, King’s College School
pupils have been awarded 15 scholarships. Joseph and Joe will start at
Eton in September 2010.
Eton gives Scholarships to boys of academic talent, irrespective of
their financial circumstances. Most scholars have a reduced fees and
extra bursaries if the reduced fee is still too expensive. King's
College School offers similar scholarships to boys with musical talent.
If your son is age six or seven and enjoys singing then you are welcome
to bring him along to audition for the Choir. If he is accepted then he
will receive generous support to study at King's College School. He
will receive a first-rate education and sing in the magnificent King's
College Chapel.
