King's student Alex Stobbs conducts a charity concert
in the Chapel on Saturday 19 June. Alex is a brilliant musician who,
despite suffering from cystic fibrosis, sings in the college Choir and
maintains a concert schedule as well as following his studies.
He has been featured in two Channel 4 documentaries, A Boy Called Alex (2008) and Alex: A Passion for Life (2009).
This will be the inaugural concert of his own ochestra, The Stobbs
Scratch. Alex will conduct his orchestra as well as talented soloists
Sophie Junker, Tim Mead, William Balkwill, John McMunn, Matthew Sprange
and Ashley Riches. The programme will include Mozart's Symphony No.35
in D major (‘Haffner’) and Bach's The Contest between Phoebus and Pan.
Tickets cost £30, £25, £20, £10 and are available from King’s College School (email: office@kcs.cambs.sch.uk;
tel: 01223 365814). The concert starts at 7.30pm and proceeds go to Future Talent and to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
